What we delivered

A special premiere at the Grand Rex, a contest and a media influence campaign.

01

The context

The starting point

More than 10 years after its release, the animated film Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods returned to cinemas in a never-before-seen extended cut (105 minutes vs 85 for the original), thanks to Toei Company, Ltd. and Piece of Magic Entertainment. The film marked the return of Dragon Ball Z to the big screen in 2013, before leading to the animated series Dragon Ball Super.

The goal was to unite the community around an experience that would be both a celebration of the IP and a chance to rediscover on the big screen the animated film that grossed more than $50 million at the box office.

The approach

Our approach

For the cinema re-release of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, we organised, together with Toei Company, Ltd. and Piece of Magic Entertainment, a premiere worthy of the IP at the Grand Rex, one of the most iconic cinemas in the world. To showcase this unprecedented event, we invited influencers specialising in Japanese culture, anime and manga.
